Why does Lakeside do WAC (Write A Check)?
Instead of having your students go door to door and sell products through a third party as our main fundraiser, Lakeside chooses to have parents simply write a check donation so that we get 100% of the profit that is tax deductible. Your receipt confirmation will count as your tax deduction form.
How much should I donate?
It is recommended to donate $50 for each student at Lakeside in order to meet the needs of our budget for the year. Of course, please donate what your family is comfortable and able to do, but that is a general guideline.
I just gave $40 to Longhorn Pass, why do I need to donate to Write a Check?
Funds collected from the Longhorn Pass are completely separate as they are considered class funds for parties and gifts for staff and teachers. Legally the funds are not allowed to cross over, so that's why you are asked to pay for these separately.
What do the funds go towards?
Around $25-$30 goes towards your child's field trips and transportation for the year. The rest go towards a variety of items including, but not limited to the following:
• Petting Zoo for Pre-K (in place of a field trip)
• Field Day Inflatables and Games
• Programs for ALL students throughout the year
• 4 Square in the Air PE Equipment
• Recess Ball Equipment and Cart
• Homecoming Float
• Educational Materials for Classrooms
• $125 Supply Reimbursement for All Staff
• Staff Conferences/Professional Development
• Hospitality Luncheons & Treats for Staff Meetings
• 5th Grade Celebration
What are the incentives?
For every goal we hit, the students earn a reward that will be celebrated at school at a later date. Our goal is $20k.
