Toy Drive!

The Lakeside Leadership Team (Student Council) is partnering with the Coppell Lions Club to provide toys for children who would otherwise not receive holiday gifts this winter.

If you are able, we would love for you to send in any new toys you feel like you can donate. Our young leaders here at Lakeside are collecting ANY TYPE of toys or books (or gift cards) that might appeal to children up through 5th grade age.

Last year, Lakeside donated many toys and made a lasting impact on children right here in our area. Your donations are greatly appreciated!

Toys will be collected through Dec 14.

Education Foundation Awards Grant to Mrs. Tuffnell!
Published: Mon, Dec 11, 2017, 07:08PM CST

On Tuesday, December 5, the Coppell ISD Education Foundation surprised CISD teachers by awarding grants with balloons and big checks. Lakeside Elementary’s SaraBeth Tuffnell received $2,648 for “Ukuleles in the Music Classroom.” The grant provides 35 Ukuleles and accompanying accessories. The goal of this initiative is to improve the ability to teach rhythm, melody, improvisation and part-work to students of all skill-levels with a resource that is both inviting and culturally relevant to all students. The use of a ukulele to create and perform multipart music pieces is far superior to the current use of recorders. Visit website by clicking here to read about all grants funded this year.

Coppell ISD launches Strategic Design efforts

Coppell ISD is embarking on a new district Strategic Design initiative to help CISD create its next set of priorities from which all efforts will be aligned.

Since the district is nearing the end of its last strategic plan, Pinnacle 2020, this effort is timely and will give the district a renewed vision for the upcoming years.

The district will have its Strategic Design efforts with Education Summits:

· Wednesday, Dec. 6 at New Tech High @Coppell from 6 to 8 p.m.

Coppell ISD stakeholders, including parents, students, staff and the Coppell community, are invited to attend one of the summits, which will prepare the audience to consider their values and vision for education. Additional phases of the Strategic Design process include an online questionnaire, one-on-one interviews, and district and market research.
