Lakeside's First Yearbook Signing Party! Please join us for Lakeside's first Yearbook Signing Party! This is a chance for your Longhorns to get autographs from all of their classmates and teachers, past and present. If you ordered a yearbook, you will have it in time for the party. If you didn't order a yearbook, come anyway and bring your favorite autograph book or use some of the cool stationary that we'll have on hand! Yearbooks are more fun to look back on when they are personalized. Come hang out, enjoy some snacks, and make your yearbook unique! Bring your yearbooks,or autograph book and of course a PARENT OR GUARDIAN. (This is not a drop-off event.) **If your child goes to the YMCA program after school, they will be able to join the fun with your permission. Digital Photography and Filmmaking Camp This Summer at NTH@C! Join us at the 2nd annual NTH@C Photography and Filmmaking Camp to learn and explore the other side of the camera! The campers will learn how to use industry grade equipment, within two categories, photography and film. All programs and cameras will be provided to help students excel and learn to love the photography and filmmaking process. When? June 25-29, 2012, 9am-Noon for incoming 4th and 5th graders & 1pm-4pm for incoming 6th-8th graders. Cost? $130 Where? CISD Showcase Auditions - Boys & Girls Needed CISD is looking for elementary and middle school aged boys and girls to be in a CISD Showcase performance that will be performed in Austin at the Texas Association of School Administration and Texas Association of School Boards this September. The district will be auditioning a limited number of students at Coppell Middle School North on Wednesday, May 16th at 5:30pm. Each elementary will have 1 boy and 1 girl cast. Each middle school will have 2 boys and 2 girls cast. Students will need to sing the Jackson Five's "ABC" and will learn a short dance routine at auditions. All students cast would need to be available for: *Summer rehearsal- days and times TBD. *Convocation Performance for the CISD staff on August 21st *A city performance at CHS on September 5th *Travel to Austin on September 28th and 29th for the TASA/TASB Conference. If your student is interested in auditioning, please contact Ms. Sarah Meadors. I will be available on Wednesday May 9th after school until 4:30, to help any students learn the song “ABC”. Teacher Requests for Younger Siblings Parents, if you would like to request that your child have the same teacher as an older sibling please make sure those requests are submitted in writing to Mrs. Hall. Run To Fund REMINDER...The Coppell Education Foundation is hosting a 5k and 1 mile Fun Run this Saturiday, May 5th beginning and ending at CHS Stadium, “Run To Fund”. Participants, both young and old, will receive a fun t-shirt, and there will be bounce houses, snow cones, pancakes, a band, lots and lots of free giveaways, and much more. Prices go up closer to race day so register early. Registration forms are available in the front office, and we will be delivering participation brochures at the end of the week in each students' backpack. Teachers and staff receive a discount! Plan to join us and all your Coppell ISD buddies for the RUN TO FUND 5K & 1 MILE FUN RUN, to support the Coppell Education Foundation and Lakeside! $1 per participant goes to the Health Initiative Program at the school of their choice! National Walk & Bike to School Day 2012 Next Wednesday, May 9th is National Walk & Bike to School Day. It's already time to begin planning for the next Lakeside school year…can you believe it?! 2012-2013 prepackaged school supply packet pre-orders will begin on May 1st and will be available for purchase through July 31st! There will be no supply sales in August. Purchase online, print/keep your receipt, and your child's supplies will be delivered to his/her classroom for Meet the Teacher Night in August. Mr. Guerry travels across the country speaking to digital users, young and old, regarding the importance of practicing a Digital Consciousness in every aspect of life to avoid any current – or future – digital disease. Author of Public and Permanent: The Golden Rule of the 21st Century, Richard has been a featured speaker at many national conferences and conventions, including the National Conference on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention, the National Conference on Girl Bullying, the International Bullying Prevention Association, and the National Symposium on Child Abuse. CMSN Visits for outgoing 5th graders "I just wanted to touch base with the exciting registration plans for next year’s fifth graders. Counselor and principal visits will take place at Lakeside on Thursday, May 3rd from 8:00am to 9:00 am. Project Promotes Healthy Lifestyle Coppell ISD will participate in the National All Children Exercise Simultaneously (ACES) Project from 9:15-9:45 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012. Organized by the district’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) and Physical Education Department, every campus will participate with over 10,000 students exercising at the same time. The 2012 Coppell High School Championship Girls’ Volleyball Team and the Coppell Fire Department will be on hand to promote exercise and reinforce healthy living. Parents and community are invited to attend the event at their child’s school. The SHAC would like to make this an annual event to encourage students to exercise every day as part of a healthy lifestyle and to fight childhood obesity. 4/10/12

2012 Coppell Basketball Summer Camps Who: Boys & Girls, age 7 up to entering 9th grade When: June 18th-22nd, June 25th-29th, July 9th-13th, 9am-3pm Where: Coppell High School Cost: $145 first week, $120 for additional weeks Campers will be taught many of the same concepts that the Coppell Varsity teams work on daily to "Stay on Top!" Summer Tennis Camp Coppell High School will be hosting four weeks of Summer Tennis Camp beginning in June. Ages 5-18 are included. This is the 22nd year for our camps. Plan to register your children for as many weeks as you would like. Head Coach Jane Jackson and her experienced staff will begin registration March 1st and continue throughout the summer.
