Red & Black Attack 2010 The Coppell ISD Education Foundation is pleased to announce the kick-off of our annual fundraising campaign – Red & Black Attack! Signs will begin appearing on all CISD campuses and throughout our neighborhoods beginning January 5 through March 6. The foundation is a 501©(3) nonprofit tax-exempt philanthropic organization of citizens which began in June, 2000 as a way to support CISD activities not funded by tax dollars. With the continued limits imposed on state funding, the maximum amount that CISD is allowed to retain has not substantially increased since 2005-06. How has the Education Foundation impacted Lakeside Elementary? Since the Foundation’s beginning, Lakeside has received over $16,000 in grants. These grants were used to fund the Strategy Club, Circles of Friends, the Writing Café and countless other programs and also provides each CISD campus with a matching fund grant to be used for technology, staff development and interactive learning programs. In the Spring of 2009, Lakeside received $768.00 to hire a technology consultant to expand the school’s knowledge in podcasting, blogging and smart boards. We encourage you to join your community in supporting excellence in CISD classrooms! Donations may be made online at www.coppellisdef.com or by contacting the foundation office at 214.496.6054. 1/4/10
